Research
You will have a couple of different opportunities to work in the LMC. There should be books in the LMC and you should also use the Internet. You will need at least three references for this project. These references should be listed somewhere on your poster. (preferably small and out of the way). Once you decide on your topic you need to decide what you want the focus of your poster to be. You also do not have to limit your research to the LMC, you can get on the computer at home or you can talk to someone you know who knows something about your topic. The following web pages can serve as some ideas for your research.
When looking at these be sure to check at the bottom because some of them have pretty good links.
Greenhouse Effect sites:
Pollution Control sites
These are just a few sites. If, while in LMC, you need assistance just ask us and we will be happy to help you track down what you are looking for.
Poster
Your poster will be the majority of your grade (25 points). You can put your poster on one piece of poster board or you can buy something bigger if you want. You need to be sure that your poster clearly shows what your topic is and then besides that be as creative as you want. You can put graphs, pictures, statistics and anything else on the poster. Besides the poster you will also need at least one prop. This can be some sort of demo representing pollution or it can be a video tape of yourself, if you bring a television. Any prop just needs to be related to you poster and your topic. If you are unsure about whether or not you are allowed to bring a certain something just ask and we will tell you. Try to make it appealing to our visitors and be creative as you can.
Questions
Each group will need to come up with 4 questions that pertain to your groups poster and topic. These are due on Monday by the end of the day. I will then put them all together and make a handout. Then during the poster session these will be passed out and you will need to find time to walk around to the other groups posters to answer the questions they provided. You will be graded on your questions you provided so be sure that they are not too simple. The questions your groups writes will be worth ten points and then the worksheet consisting of all of the questions will be worth twenty points. This worksheet will be due at the end of the poster session. So during the poster session at least one person will have to "man" the poster while the others walk around and answer questions. You will have to work in shifts so each group member has a chance to answer the questions.
Participation Paragraph
On the day after the poster session you will be expected to turn in a paragraph (1/2 page at least) discussing what you did each day leading up to the poster session and how each group member participated. This will be your chance to state if you feel you did too much work.
